Yale Public Safety Officer Gregory Swiantek died suddenly on Wednesday, March 12, following a "fatal medical event," the department said. He leaves behind a 10-year-old daughter Remy and many friends and family members.
The Yale Public Safety Department said he served as a member of the Honor Guard and was a field-training officer.
Always the first to offer a helping hand, his kindness, compassion, and unwavering support touched countless lives Greg’s thoughtful spirit shined in the small moments. He never missed sending those he loved a text on holidays, birthdays, or major life events, always keeping his friends and family close to his heart. His absence leaves a void that words cannot fill.
The CT Lollapalooza Festival organizers called him a "great friend" to the local arts community.
"Greg was a wonderful dad and a genuine, caring person, always ready to lend a hand," they wrote in a Facebook post. "Lately, he and I had been speaking very frequently about shows and venues that Remy would be able to play at her young age. I will miss his calls and his thoughtful texts on every holiday to wish me and my family a happy holiday."
Donations for his daughter can be made at www.ourcommunityheros.org.
